Bird watchers just love to stay at BIG4 Atherton Woodlands Tourist Park. 

Just to tempt you, here are a few of the birds found in the Park:

Australian White Ibis                  Straw-necked Ibis

Square-tailed Kite                      Brown Goshawk

Southern Boobook                    Forest Kingfisher

Red-browed Finch                     Chestnut-breasted Mannikin

White-headed Pigeon                 Spotted Pardalotte

Honeyeaters in many varieties, including Yellow-spotted, Lewin's & Blue-faced Honeyeaters.

Members of the Townsville Bird Observers Club frequently stay in the Park.  A Bird List which they have kindly prepared for us, is available from Reception listing birds found locally and in, or flying over the Park.  Please make sure you ask for your copy!

Butterflies & Moths are also found in abundance in the Park.

We welcome all our guests to add to the Bird & Butterfly listings as new varieties are found.

BIG4 Atherton Woodlands Tourist Park is also situated approximately 2km's away, from the beautiful Hasties Swamp (Nyleta Wetland) which is also very popular for bird watchers, which has a 2-storey bird hide.

Just 500m away, within easy walking distance of the Park, is Platypus Park. Many families stroll to the Park just on dusk to see these amazing creatures.  You will find also find plenty of turtles in the pond and ducks & geese which are always a favourite with the children.
